Knowledge Prerequisites

For successful participation in the course, you should have earned a Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) certification or have general networking knowledge.

• You should have actively engaged in the design, deployment, scaling, configuration and management of enterprise networks, IPsec and related VPN technologies
• Experience with hierarchical network segmentation (access, distribution and core layer) and best practices
• Good basic knowledge of IP addressing and subnetting schemes required to build local area networks (LANs)
• Basic knowledge of network authentication, authorization and billing services
• Extensive basic knowledge of dynamic routing protocols with a focus on Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
• Basic knowledge of wired and wireless QoS mechanisms, packet queue operations and practical implementations
• Basic understanding of threat analysis concepts and methodologies and the ability to apply them to identify, analyze and respond to cybersecurity threats
• Basic understanding of network security controls and protocols, network management best practices and data security
• Basic knowledge of radio frequency concepts, terminology, design principles and practical implementations related to wireless networks and current 802.11 wireless standards
• Basic knowledge of wireless security best practices with a focus on access control (802.1x) and spectrum security through Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) and Prevention System (WIPS)
